Parks, schools, dining, and what makes this neighborhood special

🌳 Poplar Grove Park

Located within the residential heart of Poplar Grove, this city park provides a full slate of neighborhood recreation, including a playground, baseball field, tennis courts with pickleball lines, basketball, sand volleyball, horseshoe courts, and a large reservable pavilion. Its broad mix of amenities makes it a practical gathering place for families, sports groups, and community events on Salt Lake City’s west side.

🚴 9 Line Trail

Running along the neighborhood’s southern edge near 900 South, the 9 Line Trail is one of Poplar Grove’s most important recent community investments. Its walking and bicycling route links west-side neighborhoods with destinations farther east while adding a linear greenway through an area historically divided by rail and industrial corridors. The trail also supports safer everyday trips without relying on a car.

🌊 Jordan River Parkway at 900 South

The Jordan River corridor gives Poplar Grove an unusually strong connection to nature despite its urban and industrial surroundings. Near 900 South and 9th South River Park, residents can reach the Jordan River Parkway for walking, bicycling, wildlife viewing, and longer recreational trips. The river corridor’s trees, water, and open space create a distinct landscape that sets the neighborhood apart from much of Salt Lake City.

📚 Chapman Branch Library

The Chapman Branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library serves as an important civic anchor for Poplar Grove, offering residents a nearby place for reading, internet access, learning programs, and community connection. Its presence is especially meaningful in a large, diverse west-side neighborhood where accessible public institutions help connect families, students, immigrants, and longtime residents to citywide resources.

🏛️ Historic Fisher Mansion

Fisher Mansion is one of Poplar Grove’s most recognizable historic landmarks and a reminder that the neighborhood’s story reaches beyond its mid-century homes and newer redevelopment. The mansion contributes architectural character and historical depth to the west side, standing alongside the Jordan River corridor and community landmarks as a tangible link to Salt Lake City’s earlier settlement and agricultural past.
